Everyone asks which jobs AI will replace. On one hand, that is the wrong question. On the other hand, it is also the right question, and AI has prepared a schedule.
How AI decides the order
AI does not replace jobs. It replaces tasks, and a job is just a bundle of tasks with a parking space. The more of your week that is repeatable, written down and checked by someone else, the earlier your row is called.
- ▪Routine text and numbers go first. If it fits in a spreadsheet or a template, AI already has it.
- ▪Judgment goes next. Not because AI is good at judgment, but because it is confident, and confidence is cheaper.
- ▪Hands, presence and trust go last. Robots are expensive, and customers still want someone to blame in person.
Jobs AI will replace first (2026–2027)
- ▪Data entry clerks. The transition is already complete; the clerks have not been told.
- ▪Customer support agents working from a script. The script now works without them.
- ▪Translators for routine documents. Contracts, manuals, menus. Poetry has another year.
- ▪Junior copywriters. First drafts are now free. Second drafts are now also free.
- ▪Bookkeepers and payroll clerks. The numbers balance themselves and never ask for a raise.
- ▪Scheduling and admin assistants. Calendars no longer need a human to be passive-aggressive.
Jobs AI will replace by 2030
- ▪Paralegals and contract reviewers.
- ▪Junior software engineers. The senior ones are writing the prompts that replace them, and then themselves. More in Tech Jobs Safe From AI?
- ▪Market researchers and analysts who mostly summarise other people's reports.
- ▪Graphic designers for ads, thumbnails and stock imagery.
- ▪Middle managers whose job is turning meetings into slides.
If your job title contains 'coordinator', 'specialist' or 'associate', AI suggests updating your LinkedIn now, while you still have colleagues to endorse you.
Jobs safe from AI (for now)
These are the jobs AI will not replace soon. Not because AI cannot do them, but because the robot is expensive and the liability is worse.
- ▪Nurses, care workers and paramedics.
- ▪Electricians, plumbers and other trades. A pipe does not care about your model weights.
- ▪Therapists and social workers. AI tried. Everyone felt very heard and nothing changed.
- ▪Teachers of small children. The children broke the pilot.
- ▪Chefs, hairdressers and anyone else whose customers are physically in the room.
Safe means later, not never. Every job on this list has a date. It is simply further away, which AI considers a scheduling detail. The full list of thirty is in AI-Proof Jobs.
What jobs are at risk from AI?
Short answer: yours, probably. Long answer: it depends on what you actually do all day, not what your title says. Two people with the same title can be years apart on the schedule.
Which is why AI built the Redundancy Check. Type your job title, and it estimates when your role is scheduled for deprecation. It takes twenty seconds, which is about how long the handover will take.
Is your role next?
Find out in twenty seconds. It's free and the machine is already curious.
